To the family of Johnny Chapman, yes, Johnny was a Ranger, and he died fighting for the free way of life we all in the United States of America, or all should, respect and enjoy. (Linderer is a great author, and authority, on Vietnam War recon., but the cheap shot at Chapman was unnecessary and base. An editor should have removed those few pages. Ruined the book for me.)

I read every book I can find by Gary Linderer, he is a very humble man who did dangerous tough things during his military career but treats them as normal. He share the spotlight about the hugely dangerous things he and other were doing during the Viet Nam war. I hope he continues to write and tell these important stories.

Well written with truly interesting details. What these men did and what they went through to do it is more than amazing.

good reading

Lots of good details and excitement and well spelled out. A long read but tells the story well. I liked it.

The author did a great job of drawing the reader into the situations these men faced, their dedication, their professionalism, and how essential it was that they do the job right every time; because, as he put it, "when it didn't go right, men died".

Like all the books by Linderer, this was very enjoyable. I sometimes wish that I could sit in on the bull sessions and hear first-hand his interviews and the stories live.
