About the Author

Pete Souza was the Chief Official White House Photographer for President Obama and the Director of the White House Photo Office. Previously Souza was an Assistant Professor of Photojournalism at Ohio University, the national photographer for the Chicago Tribune, a freelancer for National Geographic, and an Official White House Photographer for President Reagan. His books include the New York Times bestseller The Rise of Barack Obama, which documents the president's meteoric ascent from his first day in the United States Senate through the 2008 Pennsylvania presidential primary. Souza is currently a freelance photographer based in Washington, D.C. and is a Professor Emeritus at Ohio University's School of Visual Communication.

This book is truly remarkable. I actually bought it as a gift for my brother who worked for President Obama during the last year of his administration, and I am tempted to order a copy for myself. The quality is impressive; but most of all the history, emotion, and poignant images in this book tell the incredible story of a truly historic presidency. It's remarkable the way Pete Souza was able to capture so brilliantly the empathy, wisdom, humor, and decency of Obama from behind the lens. This was well worth the buy and will be enjoyed for decades to come. Thank you Pete Souza for sharing your talent and insight by publishing this book.

What a beautiful way to capture such historical moments. Some of the pictures capture the realness of what their life was like and the class, and humility he has. I purchased this as an early birthday gift to myself and I couldn’t be happier.

I bought this special deluxe limited edition purely for keepsake (did not open it). However, I did ordered the regular edition which is absolutely beautiful - there is no better President than President Obama. He is so eloquent, inspiring and was the President for all Americans, unlike the one we have in the White House now - SO SAD!!!

Simply magnificent. The photos are exceptional and I am so glad I splurged for the limited edition. The presentation, size and weight of the book is all worthy of the 44th President.

Pete Souza did a wonderful job documenting and capturing Obama's term. I didn't plan on reading the entire book in one sitting but I couldn't stop once I got started. As for the quality of the print, some of the pages may have not dried completely as I did have spots in a few of the pictures. Besides that, the book was still decent quality.

This is a wonderful presentation and a terrific book. I love seeing what Pete did with his opportunity to capture the entire Obama presidency.Pete offered to re-post Instagram images of his book that were correctly tagged, but didn't select mine, so I'm including it here, taken on my iPhone.

Absolutely beautiful quality. I had to buy the non-limited edition to put on the coffee table because I don't want this version regularly handled.

Beautiful pictures and lovely presentation. Defiantly a family keep sake for years to come. Souza really captures the humanity in the President’s eyes in his candid pictures OC the president with children or hugging a hurricane victim. Wonderful book.
