Bought this book as I was going to work on a tanker for the first time. If you just want a basic overview of tanker ships and whatnot, this book is a bit much to digest. if on the other hand you are looking at making a career on tankers or studying for the Tankerman PIC endorsement, then this book is right up your alley.It is up-to-date and is a must have for those who will work in the deck department of a tanker ship or on-board tank barges including ATB's.

Excellent material for studies and tanker operation.

Being an old retired tanker sailor myself I was interested in bringing myself up-to-date on this industry. This book did all that and more. I can highly recommend it to those sitting there mate's exam and/or taking up a career in tankships.

Tanker Ops by Prof. Huber is a great primer for the uninitiated, and a good reference for those already in the industry. If you have the old edition, upgrade to Prof. Huber's work.With a few changes to take into account the SI sytem and a section on global standards/practices (not just IMO, but perhaps some typical country specific information), it would make a excellant textbook in any country, due its uncomplicated language and straight forward approach.
